Andy Richter is an award-winning visual artist and photographer based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He immerses himself in his subjects and their wider context, exploring such themes as family, fatherhood, self-transformation, consciousness and spirituality with the heightened awareness that the camera brings. A storyteller at heart, he is frequently commissioned by clients who understand that authentic visual narratives inspire audiences to engage and act. Whether collaborating with a major brand, a national publication, or an international NGO, his photographs deliver a clear vision that connects.
Andy’s work has been exhibited internationally and he has received recognition from American Photography, Photolucida, the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University, and the International Photography Awards, among others. He is a multiple time recipient of the Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant and is a participating artist in the Hennepin Theatre Trust's It's the People public art installation for 2021.
His monograph, Serpent in the Wilderness (2018), a photographic exploration of yoga, is available for purchase directly from the artist, from Kehrer Verlag, and wherever fine books are sold. Work from the series was recently part of the exhibition Love Devotion Surrender Dedication at Rick Wester Fine Art in New York.
A new exhibition of works from Serpent in the Wilderness will be showing from December 10, 2021 to January 16, 2022 at the Phipps Center for the Arts in Hudson, Wisconsin.
