About
Andy Richter is a photographer based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He immerses himself in his subjects and their wider context, looking at notions of presence, place, history, and fatherhood with the heightened awareness a camera can bring. Andy is frequently commissioned by clients who understand that authentic visual narratives inspire audiences to engage and act. Whether collaborating with a major brand, a national publication, or an international NGO, his photographs deliver a clear vision that connects.
Andy’s work has been exhibited internationally and he has received recognition from American Photography, Photolucida, the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University, and the International Photography Awards, among others. He is a multiple time recipient of the Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant and a recent participating artist in the Hennepin Theatre Trust's It's the People public art installation.
His monograph, Serpent in the Wilderness (2018), a photographic exploration of yoga, is available directly from the artist, from Kehrer Verlag in Europe, and wherever fine books are sold. Work from the series was included in Love Devotion Surrender Dedication at Rick Wester Fine Art in New York and presented as a solo exhibition at the Phipps Center for the Arts in Hudson, Wisconsin, in 2022.
Andy is currently an MFA Candidate at the Hartford Art School.
